Driver Sought For Pedestrian on Electric Scooter Hit-and-Run in Jersey City

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a pedestrian operating an electric scooter on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, at approximately 9:55 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Brunswick Street and Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City.

Responding Police Officers found an injured pedestrian at that location.

The victim, a 33-year-old Jersey City man was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries.

Prosecutor Suarez said his injuries are non-life-threatening and he is currently in stable condition.

During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim was operating an electric scooter on Christopher Columbus Drive when it was struck by a light-colored motor vehicle making a right turn from Brunswick Street onto Christopher Columbus Drive.

Prosecutor Suarez said the vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.

No arrests have been made at this time.
