NEW YORK CITY — A Bronx couple faces charges in the death of a 3-month old infant found dumped in the woods Sunday near Yankee Stadium, police said.

The death of Genevieve Comager has been ruled a homicide, authorities said. Police arrested her father, Damion Comager, 23, on murder and manslaughter charges Monday, according to police and reports.

Damion Comager also faces a concealment of a corpse charge, as does the infant’s mother Ivana Paolozzi, 20, the New York Daily News first reported. The pair’s arrests cap an investigation that began Sunday when the infant’s grandfather grew concerned after a conversation he had with Damion Comager, the Daily News reported. The grandfather couldn’t hear the infant crying on the phone and wanted police to check on her, according to the report.

Police found the infant wasn’t with Comager or Paolozzi at their home in a University Family transitional housing shelter, the report states. A family member eventually broke down and led officers to a wooded area near West 161st Street and the Major Deegan Expressway where Genevieve Comager was found dead, according to a report. Damion Comager told cops he slapped and shook the infant as a way to silence her crying, the Daily News reported.

Police haven’t released details about when or where Genevieve Comager died other than a medical examiner ruled it a homicide, authorities said. Paolozzi also faces an obstruction charge, police said.
