Guy Rivera, 34, faces counts of murder of a police officer, murder with intent to kill, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed to Patch. The charges came through late Thursday, as Rivera remained hospitalized after a deadly traffic stop in Queens, police said.

The Monday evening incident began as Diller and another officer conducted a traffic stop on a car illegally parked a bus stop along Mott Avenue, officials said. Rivera, a man with a long criminal record, is accused of shooting Diller, police said. The other cop returned fire and hit Rivera, authorities said.

Another man in the car — Lindy Jones, 41 — faces weapons charges in the incident, the New York Post first reported. Diller's death has been mourned across New York City, in his Long Island community and across the nation. His wake Thursday afternoon is expected to be attended by former President Donald Trump.
