Brooklyn Is Getting A Professional Soccer Team In 2025

Brooklyn Football Club's team logo was inspired by the limestone of the Brooklyn Bridge and the browns of brownstone bricks. Brooklyn Football Club, a professional soccer team, is set to compete in the United Soccer League's League One in 2025, in time for the next World Cup. The team's colors and badge were unveiled in June, featuring a "B" with slotting and limestone coloring reminiscent of Brooklyn's iconic bridge and brownstone-inspired brown hues. The club identity was developed with fan input representing different demographics throughout Brooklyn and themes of inclusion, honesty, boldness, and fearlessness, reflecting the borough's rich sporting history. Representatives of the city's newest soccer venture gave fans a first look at the team's colors and badge — a "B" with slotting and limestone coloring reminiscent of Brooklyn's iconic bridge and brownstone-inspired brown hues. Brooklyn Football Club, first announced in June, is slated to compete in the United Soccer League's League One come 2025 — just in time for the next World Cup.

Beyond the logo, representatives of the team say the club will share Brooklyn's unique, punchy spirit — a vibe developed with fan input from across the borough. "The club identity was developed with fan input representing different demographics throughout Brooklyn—as well as an exploration of the borough's rich sporting history—identifying themes of inclusion, honesty, boldness and fearlessness," representatives said.

And, the squad will share Brooklyn's proclivity for social good, according to its website. "Brooklyn Football Club is a grassroots club that seeks to use sport as a vehicle for social good, empower our next generation of leaders, and put on display to the world how we do it in Brooklyn,"

Owner North Sixth Group, chaired by Matt Rizzetta, has already dipped its toe in the world of professional soccer, including two Italian soccer clubs. North Sixth Group owns and partners with a number of media and tech companies. Brooklyn soccer fans can pick up Brooklyn Football Club gear on the club's website, including hoodies, t-shirts and a club scarf with the team's logo.
