NEW YORK CITY — Though spring is in full force in the Big Apple, a viral social media campaign giving iconic New York City landmarks the Game of Thrones treatment will be having New Yorkers saying, “Winter Is Coming.”
A CGI-altered video posted to the official Game of Thrones X page Monday afternoon depicts the Manhattan Bridge flying black Targaryen flags from the upcoming second season of the prequel series “House Of The Dragon.” “The Manhattan Bridge is for those loyal to Queen Rhaenyra,” the caption reads.
The video has amassed more than one million views in less than three hours. Similar CGI-altered videos of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building were posted soon after, both depicting green flags.
The green and blag flags symbolize the two sides of the show’s warring Targaryen family, who are set to continue their feud for the Iron Throne in the upcoming season.
The second season of House Of The Dragon premieres on June 16 on Max.
Hungry for more Westeros immersion? Fans of the fantasy franchise will be able to sit on the Iron Throne at the Empire State Building now through June 18, as well as experience an immersive "Game of Thrones: Legends" photo opportunity on the landmark’s 80th Floor. The Brooklyn Bridge has been claimed for King Aegon II.#TeamGreen #RaiseYourBanners pic.twitter.com/Eb1Pht5aJw
