NYC Subways: Delays Slam 10 Lines In Thursday Morning Rush Hour

Delays hit at least 10 subway lines during the morning rush hour in New York City. A person being hit by a train, a disruptive passenger, signal problems, and a train so dirty it had to be removed from service were among the issues causing the delays. A 60-year-old man was hit by the 2 train at the Utica Ave subway station in Crown Heights, sustained non-life threatening injuries. An NYPD spokesperson stated there was no criminality suspected. In Brooklyn, the 2/5 line was hit with more delays due to a mechanical issue at the Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College station. Several signal issues also occurred, affecting the 7 train and E/F trains in both directions.

NEW YORK CITY — Thursday morning might have been mostly rain-free on the streets of the Big Apple, but underground, things were a lot messier.
Delays hit at least 10 MTA subway lines during Thursday's morning rush hour, officials said. A person hit by a train, a disruptive passenger, signal problems and a train so dirty it had to be removed from service were among the issues that caused the cascading train delays, according to the MTA and the NYPD.
At about 8:20 a.m., a 60-year-old man was hit by a southbound 2 train at the Utica Ave subway station in Crown Heights, according to officials. Police described the man as being "sideswiped" by the train, and said that he sustained non-life threatening injuries.
An NYPD spokesperson said there was no criminality suspected. Around an hour later, a person aboard an uptown 6 train at the Grand Central-42 St. station was removed by NYPD officers for being disruptive, the MTA reported.
Just a few blocks west, MTA officials also removed a train car on the N/R/W line at the Times Sq-42 St. station that was so dirtied, it needed immediate cleaning, officials said. A 4/5 train was removed from service at Bowling Green due to mechanical issues, the MTA said at about 9:45 a.m.
In Brooklyn, more delays hit the 2/5 line after crews addressed a mechanical issue on a train at the Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College station, officials said. Several signal issues also struck the 7 train this morning at the 82 St-Jackson Heights stop as well as the 111st station, with delays affecting the entire line, according to the MTA. Other lines also affected by signal problems include uptown 4/5 trains and E/F trains in both directions, according to the MTA.
